Product Description

0.60mm DX51D Z120 Hot Dipped Galvanized Steel Sheet for HVAC Duct and Building Panel Fabricatio

1.Product Overview

0.60mm DX51D Z120 Hot Dipped Galvanized Steel Sheet is a flat zinc-coated steel product designed for ventilation ducts, HVAC components, building panels, equipment housings, cable trays, roofing accessories, and general sheet metal fabrication.

The product uses DX51D steel as the substrate with a Z120 zinc coating. The steel is continuously hot-dip galvanized to form a metallic zinc layer over both surfaces, helping protect the base steel from atmospheric moisture and corrosion.

The 0.60mm thickness provides suitable formability for cutting, bending, punching, lock forming, and profiling while maintaining practical rigidity for lightweight building and industrial components.

2.Technical Solution

During production, the steel strip is cleaned and surface-prepared before passing through a molten zinc bath. A continuous zinc coating is formed on the steel substrate to provide metallic corrosion protection.

The Z120 designation represents a nominal total zinc coating weight of 120g/m² on both sides of the sheet.

DX51D is suitable for general forming applications and supports common fabrication operations used in HVAC ducts, building accessories, electrical enclosures, and profiled components

.

Depending on downstream requirements, the galvanized surface can be supplied with passivation, oiling, skin passing, or anti-fingerprint treatment. Different spangle appearances can also be selected according to surface and processing requirements.

6.Advantages

  • 0.60mm thickness provides suitable rigidity for lightweight sheet metal components.
  • DX51D substrate supports general bending, profiling, and forming operations.
  • Z120 zinc coating provides corrosion protection for general construction and industrial applications.
  • Flat sheet format is convenient for cutting, punching, bending, and small-batch fabrication.
  • Multiple surface treatments can be selected according to storage and downstream processing requirements.
  • Different spangle finishes support different surface appearance requirements.
  • Customized width and length can reduce unnecessary cutting during fabrication.
  • The galvanized surface can be used directly or further painted and fabricated into finished components.

7.How to Choose

  • Choose sheet thickness according to component rigidity, bending radius, forming depth, installation conditions, and finished product requirements.
  • Select DX51D for general forming applications such as ducts, panels, enclosures, and building accessories.
  • Choose the zinc coating according to humidity, rainfall, indoor or outdoor exposure, and expected service conditions.
  • Select regular spangle when a traditional galvanized appearance is acceptable. Minimized or zero spangle can be used when a more uniform surface is preferred.
  • Specify passivation or oiling according to transportation, storage, forming, and subsequent coating requirements.
  • Confirm sheet width and length according to cutting plans, fabrication equipment, and finished component dimensions.
  • For painting or powder coating applications, confirm the required galvanized surface treatment before production.

8.FAQ

Q1.What does DX51D mean?

DX51D is a forming-grade steel commonly used for hot-dip galvanized products intended for bending, profiling, and general fabrication.

Q2.What does Z120 mean?

Z120 indicates a nominal total zinc coating weight of 120g/m² on both sides of the galvanized steel sheet.

Q3.Can this galvanized steel sheet be used for HVAC ducts?

Yes. The material is suitable for cutting, bending, lock forming, and fabrication into ventilation ducts and related HVAC components.

Q4.Can the sheet size be customized?

Yes. Width and length can be selected according to processing capability, fabrication equipment, and finished product requirements.

Q5.What surface treatments are available?

Common options include passivation, oiling, skin passing, anti-fingerprint treatment, or customized surface conditions.

Q6.Can hot dipped galvanized steel sheet be painted?

Yes. Painting or powder coating can be applied after appropriate surface preparation and pretreatment.

Q7.What is the difference between galvanized steel sheet and galvanized steel coil?

Galvanized steel coil is supplied in continuous coil form for automated processing, while galvanized steel sheet is cut to specified dimensions for direct fabrication.

Q8.How should galvanized steel sheets be stored?

The sheets should be stored in a dry and ventilated indoor environment. Condensation, standing water, damaged packaging, and prolonged exposure to moisture should be avoided.
